From brand consolidation to new promos, it seemed that the folks at TM are working on quite a number of projects at the moment. That apparently includes digital wallet, based on a recent Request For Information (RFI) notice on its official website.
According to the document, TM is looking for vendor that are able to help the company develop its digital wallet solutions. As expected, solutions from such vendor must comply to Bank Negara Malaysia’s guidelines but what made the requirement rather interesting though is that vendor must have successful implementation in developing countries or within Asia.
Based on that, we believe that TM is looking for experienced vendors. At the same time, the project seems to be assigned to the company’s Webe (UniFi Mobile) arm; judging from the personnel that was listed on the RFI document as point of contact.
Given that the RFI involves Confidentiality Letter, it is unlikely that we will hear more details about the digital wallet project. Since the RFI was only posted last week, we expect the project to be publicly revealed in 2018 at the earliest.
