It has been teased during the phone’s official launch event in Malaysia as well as through numerous marketing material, but it is only today that OPPO has finally revealed the launch date of the 6GB edition for its F5 smartphone. However, that doesn’t mean users can get it on that very day.
Instead, the launch day on 6 December will mark the beginning of the pre-order for the new phone which will start at 12:30pm on that very day. As for the phone itself, it is generally identical to the original F5 that was released in Malaysia earlier this month.
Powered by the same MediaTek Helio P23 MT6763T processor, both F5 and F5 6GB are equipped with 6-inch FHD+ 18:9 LTPS display. They also carry 20MP front camera that has been enhanced with AI Beauty Recognition technology alongside a 16MP rear camera and 3200mAh battery.
The only differences between a standard F5 and F5 6GB are their RAM and internal storage space. While the standard model comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, the F5 6GB carries slightly more at 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.
Another difference is that the F5 6GB is likely to be available only as Red Edition based on marketing materials that OPPO Malaysia has published even though the Black colorway was shown on the presentation slide during F5 launch event.
Nevertheless, the Red colorway is currently not available for the standard F5 which comes in Gold and Black. Its price tag should be different as well but that will only be revealed on 6 December. So, stay tuned.
