A recent report by TA Securities has stated that TM will be offering new plans under Webe this coming January. The telco which has begun its transition to UniFi Mobile since few months ago apparently will be operating with that new branding at that time as well.
While the new plan has not been officially announced by TM, it is not something that surprises us as it is indeed about time for them to refresh their plans. After all, Webe’s RM 79 plans for mobile and RM 59 for wireless broadband have been around since late 2016 even thought they are kept on being masked as limited time offers.
Despite the stagnant offerings, UniFi Mobile still managed to achieve 8% of TM’s household penetration much earlier than its originally intended, according to the company’s Q3 2017 financial report. With that, UniFi Mobile should be able to reach more customers if TM able to provide newer and more attractive packages.
As for using UniFi Mobile as the actual branding, this once again reflects convergence as TM’s main philosophy. At the same time, consumers might want to get used to the idea that the UniFi branding is not just about TM’s high speed fibre broadband offerings anymore.
