Samsung Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge are going to receive the Android Oreo update; at least according to an official representative from the company. This information comes from the company customer service line, which hasn’t exactly been the most reliable source in the past.
A Reddit user posted screenshots of his conversation with the customer service representative, claiming to have received confirmation of the update. However, there was no details of when this update would be being pushed out.
The original post itself points out that Samsung customer service tends to get this type of information wrong. Reminding readers that it should be taken with a pinch of salt as the company generally does not release more than one OS update per phone model. The fact that Samsung doesn’t talk about OS updates only complicates matters.
There’s no reason for us to dream about more updates for the Galaxy S6, as it would extend the life span of an already solid device. That said, this is information from an anonymous source on Reddit. Which is not exactly a beacon of accurate reporting.
