It looks like we’re not that far away from seeing AMD’s new lineup of AM4-based processors. For those who may not be aware, the next products that should be released by AMD are its Raven Ridge APUs (desktop) and Pinnacle Ridge CPUs (Ryzen refresh). Asus has recently released a new BIOS updates for its motherboards, and its changelog contains details that may give us an indication as to when AMD’s new processors will be released.
According to YouTuber RedGamingTech, Asus’ recent BIOS changelog contains the following excerpt “Update to AGESA 1071 for new upcoming processors.” Bear in mind that the BIOS update in question are meant for its B350 and X370 motherboards. Sources have said that Raven Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge processors may arrive around the first quarter of 2018.
Of course, it’s worth noting that neither Asus or AMD have specifically stated whether the motherboard BIOS update was meant for Raven Ridge, Pinnacle Ridge or a different AM4-based CPU. That said, given the timing of the BIOS update, it seems likely that Asus is indeed prepping up for AMD’s upcoming Raven Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge lineup of processors.
Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see how well AMD’s Raven Ridge APUs and Pinnacle Ridge CPUs will perform in the real world and most importantly, how they will stack up against their competitors. As always, we’ll just have to wait and see.
