As e-commerce gaining massive traction in Malaysia, it also helps accelerate the development of payment systems in Malaysia and it has come to an extent that online purchases these days are no longer exclusive to users with credit card alone. One such platform that has recently implemented offline payment is 11street through a partnership with MOLPay.
Under the collaboration, 11street customers can now pay for their purchases over at more than 2,200 7-Eleven throughout Malaysia. Processed through MOLPay Cash option, this allows not only any customers that didn’t own credit or debit cards to shop at the popular e-commerce platform but also for those who prefer not to use their cards or online bank transfers.
Even though the partnership was officially announced today, the offline payment option apparently has been implemented for some time with more than 10,000 orders have been processed using MOLPay Cash at 7-Eleven. That being said, the newly announced payment option does have certain limitations according to 11street’s FAQ.
For example, it can’t be used for mobile top-up, e-vouchers, and products that cost more than RM 2,000. At the same time, the transaction ID and verification code for each purchase that utilizes the MOLPay Cash option are only valid until the following day after the purchase was made at 11:59pm.
Still, the minimum amount of purchase that users need in order to be able to utilize the payment option is actually quite low at only RM 1. All in all, the new payment option should help 11street to become accessible to even more customers than before.
