OnePlus has released the Over The Air (OTA) Android 8.0 Oreo update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T models. On top of the OS update, it comes with additional add-ons via OxygenOS 5.0.
Some of the additional features of the update includes:
- OnePlus Parallel Apps mode, where users can clone apps for multiple accounts
- Picture-in-picture mode
- Android Oreo features such as Auto-fill and Smart Text Selection
- September Security patch
- New Quick Settings design
- Upload photos directly to Shot
- New folder design
The update brings the OnePlus 3 and 3T on par with other high-end models in the market, and also spells the end of the update cycle of the smartphone. The company had only promised to provide updates for the OnePlus 3 and 3T until Android Oreo. Security updates will still be issued, but it is the end of the line for new official Android builds from here on end.
The update will be rolled out incrementally to all users over the next few weeks. Users can head to their settings menu to check if the OTA is ready, or to start the update manually.
