Sony may be close in releasing its first dual-camera smartphone, according to a benchmark listing on Geekbench. The phone, codenamed Avenger, features dual selfie cameras; going against the grain of putting the best cameras on the rear of the phone.
According to the Geekbench entry, the Sony Xperia H3213 Avenger features a 16 megapixel / 8 megapixel camera combo on the front, while the rear is populated by a single 21 megapixel sensor that also records 4K video.
Unfortunately this is no flagship smartphone, because of the chipset used. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 powers the phone, making this a decidedly mid-range phone. This could be next year’s Sony Xperia XA1. Having 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, only solidifies this theory.
The 6-inch, 1080p 16:9 screen also is great to have at this level. Android 8.0 is also welcome out of the box. We do not know when this model will be hitting the market, but we may just see it at next year’s MWC 2018 conference.
