Since its original launch in 2014, 50 of AirAsia airplanes have apparently been equipped with ROKKI in-flight Wi-Fi service. This was revealed by Choudhury Hassan Peter, the Group Head of Ancillary for AirAsia during the launch of the new partnership between ROKKI and tonton in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.
For those who not familiar with the service, the on-board Wi-Fi service is available in two separate plans which are meant for instant messaging and light Internet usages. Priced at RM 9 and RM 18 respectively, the data quota for these plans are rather miniscule at 3MB and 10MB.
However, it also paved the way for users to enjoy in-flight entertainment system using their own smart devices including smartphones and tablets. Activated at the height of 10,000 feet in the air, ROKKI’s in-flight entertainment is currently available for free to passengers.
Meanwhile, Choudhury also stated that passengers can expect even more AirAsia aircrafts to be equipped with ROKKI in-flight Wi-Fi service within the next 12 to 18 months. With that, keep a look for the sign above when you about to enter the aircraft for your next AirAsia flight which means that you’ll be able to stay connected and entertained during the flight.
