It has been rumoured for quite some time, and it’s all but official now: OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 5T will be announced on 16 November. It was only back in June this year when the OnePlus 5 was introduced, and introducing a successor this early into the 5’s life cycle is reminiscent of the OnePlus 3 and 3T announcements.
OnePlus confirmed the launch of the OnePlus 5T on its forum. Carl Pei, the co-founder of the company, wrote that the launch event will be held in Brooklyn, New York. Interestingly, the company will also be selling tickets to the launch event for $40 (about RM170).
While selling tickets to a launch event – which are usually reserved for members of the media only – is quite an odd move, OnePlus clarified with The Verge that proceeds from the ticket sales will go to charity; attendees will also receive “swag worth up to $70.”
As for the OnePlus 5T itself, many believe it will share the same design as the recently announced Oppo R11s. These include a 6-inch 2160 x 1080 18:9 display with minimal bezels, a 20MP + 16MP dual-camera system, and a rear fingerprint sensor. Other specifications of the OnePlus 5T should be similar to its predecessor too, such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM, as well as a 16MP selfie camera.

The OnePlus 5T will be made official on 16 November; the upcoming phone is set to go on sale in North America and Europe on 21 November too. China and India, on the other hand, will get the OnePlus 5T on 1 December and 28 November respectively.
