Garena and Media Prima Television Network today revealed that they are partnering together to promote eSports to mass audience in Malaysia. According to Garena Malaysia, this partnership should help provide more visibility to the local gaming ecosystem.
Based on the official announcement, the role of each companies within this collaboration seemed to be quite clear. Media Prima is apparently aiming to deliver news from events and tournaments as well as game-related updates through its TV networks as well as social media channels.
At the same time, Garena will be responsible to deliver contents to the media conglomerate alongside technical expertise and manpower support for future collaborative events. All in all, expect to see some League of Legends, FIFA Online 3, and Arena of Valor on Media Prima channels very soon.
All in all, this is an interesting move by both companies. This collaboration should help Garena reach more mainstream audience but for Media Prima though, it is another proof of the company’s deep interest in gaming since it has also quietly launched a gaming website called MyGameOn.
Meanwhile, Media Prima will be broadcasting FIFA Online 3 National Championship’s Season 7 Grand Finals live from Kuantan, Pahang on 11 November through TV9’s Facebook page. For further details on the event, head on to FIFA Online 3 Malaysia’s official Facebook page.
