Samsung has filed an application for an updated 360-degree camera. The application with the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) shows the new – presumably – Gear 360 (2018) will have a similar design to what Samsung has out in the market now; with some interesting design tweaks.
The patent filing appears to show a more playful sort of camera than what Samsung has put out before. The legs have been shorten into something that resembles tiny feet, while there seems to be a face of sorts built into it.
Positioning of the cameras has also been slightly been altered, as a tilt has been introduced in the design. This means one camera faces downwards while the other faces upwards. We assume this is to make it easier for the camera to be used in table-top vlogging scenarios. Interestingly enough, there are what to be eyes over the lens covers. This design concept is puzzling to say the least.
The new Gear 360 (2018) will most likely be launched alongside next year’s Samsung Galaxy S9 as part of the accessory refresh.
