A rather curious image has appeared on Twitter which suggests that TM will rebrand Streamyx to UniFi soon. At this moment, the authenticity of the image is not yet been confirmed but the source stated that it was obtained from an insider.
While this move seems rather odd since everyone are familiar with the differences between Streamyx and UniFi, this is likely part of the company effort to consolidate its consumer and business products – referred to mass market – under one umbrella brand which is UniFi. This is something that the company have mentioned during its 1H17 financial briefing back in August.
In a way, we already seen the move in motion given what TM has did to Webe two months ago. Furthermore, TM has also moved almost all the information regarding its mass market product from its website to the new UniFi website.
Meanwhile, we believe that the real concern that consumers have regarding Streamyx is not really about the branding but more on whether they will see new and more affordable Internet packages from the company. Nevertheless, we will be reaching out to TM in order to seek more information on this rather interesting development.
