Asus has debuted its latest motherboard called the WS X299 Pro. According to the company, this motherboard is made from the “highest-grade electrical components.” The reasoning behind this is that this motherboard is made to cater for both the HEDT and server / workstation platforms. It should be noted, however, that the WS X299 Pro, will only be compatible with Intel’s Skylake-X CPUs and not Kaby Lake-X despite having both having the same LGA2066 socket.
The Asus WS X299 Pro workstation motherboard is built in the ATX form factor and design-wise, it comes in a black and silver colour scheme. In addition, this motherboard also features eight DDR4 DIMM RAM slots (reinforced); four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots; and one PCIE 3.0 x4 slot. The WS X299 Pro is also fitted with two M.2 slots; one U.2 port; six SATA 6Gbps ports; four USB 3.1 ports (Type-A and Type-C); and six USB 3.0 ports.
Unfortunately, aside from providing us with the key specifications of the WS X299 Pro motherboard, other information like local date of availability and pricing was not mentioned. That said, given the fact that this motherboard is aimed towards professionals, we do expect it to be slapped with a rather hefty price tag.
