Execration, a professional Dota 2 team based in The Philippines, is the winner of The Major League. Defeating former TI finalist Ehome 2-1, the Filipino team takes home RM135,000.
It wasn’t exactly an easy win for Execration. Ehome dominated the first game, and the Chinese team had a very good start in the second game too. However, Execration managed to make a comeback after winning some key engagements; Gabbi’s Anti-Mage was especially impressive.
Game three, on the other hand, was mostly in Execration’s favour. While both teams were pretty equal in the beginning of the game, Execration’s teamwork and smart engagements eventually secured a win for the team.
As the winner of The Major League, Execration gets RM135,000 of the RM300,000 prize pool. Ehome, on the other hand, takes home RM60,000, while Fnatic and Clutch Gamers win RM30,000 and RM24,000 respectively after placing third and fourth.
The Major League as a whole certainly shows the growth of the esports scene in Malaysia. Co-organised by the Livescape Group and Beatnation, this Dota 2 tournament is really quite impressive. The production value is definitely there, and we’ll take a closer look at The Major League in a future video and photo essay.
