HTC appears to be launching something on 2 November in Taipei; at least that seems to be the case from a leaked media invite that’s been making the rounds on the internet. Word on the street the event is for the launch of the HTC U11 Plus and U11 Life smartphones.
We have talked about the HTC U11 Life as HTC’s first Android One device. We also may see another a new member in the U11 lineup in the HTC U11 Plus as a larger phone in the family.
Speculated specifications include a nearly 6-inch display with a QHD resolution and 18:9 screen ratio; powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835; a 12MP rear camera, and possible IP68 certification. Two models of the U11 Life may be announced – a 4GB RAM/64GB storage and a 6GB/128GB combo. Design wise it may follow the HTC U11‘s looks and curves, but internally it looks very similar on paper to the recently announced Google Pixel 2 XL.
Many in the industry expected HTC to retire from the smartphone business after selling the division to Google. It could be that this is HTC’s last hurrah before making a gracious exit; and we hope that it’s a good one.
