Look out DJI Inspire 2 owners: this Zenmuse X7 Super 35mm module might be a good addition to your arsenal. The new camera from DJI boasts the world’s first Super 35 digital film camera optimized for professional aerial cinematography, thanks to the new DL-mount lens.
Recording modes for the X7 includes 6K CinemaDNG RAW or 5.2K Apple ProRes at up to 30 FPS, as well as 3.9K CinemaDNG RAW or 2.7K ProRes at up to 59.94 FPS. These two modes should gel well with most professional production workflow out there. Thanks to the new Super 35 sensor, it also features 14 stops of dynamic range for more details in low-light conditions.
As for DL-mount lenses themselves, among options that users can obtained for X7 are 16 mm, 24 mm, 35 mm, and 50 mm lenses. Each lens has a maximum aperture of F/2.8 and is crafted out of carbon fiber making it light yet durable. The whole Zenmuse X7 gimbal system weighs just 631 grams with the 16 mm lens attached.
While we don’t have the Malaysian pricing at the moment, the Zenmuse X7 is priced at US$2,699 (about RM 11,384) in United States. The 16 mm, 24 mm and 35mm lenses will be available for US$1,299 (about RM 5,479) each while the 50mm lens is listed at US$1,199 (about RM 5,057).
For those who prefer to obtain all four lenses at one go, there is also a package deal for all four lenses at only US$4,299 (about RM 18,133). The X7 will be available from early November 2017 onwards.
