Well, that did not take long. Blackberry has announced the Blackberry Motion officially at the GITEX Technology Week in Dubai; just after the phone was leaked last week. The Blackberry Motion will be the first TCL phone with water resistance, and a large 4000mAh battery.
Specifications wise the Motion has the usual mid-tier hardware. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD Premium Anti-Scratch screen, a Snapdragon 625 processor, a large 4000mAh battery and, thanks to the processor, Quick Charge 3.0 support. For the first time on a Blackberry device, the Motion is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance.
It comes with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. MicroSD support is present through the second SIM slot. The camera is a 12 megapixel unit with a 1.55 micron sensor and f/2.0 lens. Surprisingly, it is able to record 4K videos. And yes, the TCL Convenience Key is here, which can be customised by the user to launch any app they need.
On the front of the device lies the fingerprint scanner, but no QWERTY keyboard in sight. Android 7.1 Nougat is on board, as well as the usual Blackberry suite of signature apps and DTEK software. What is new is the Personal locker, where files and photos can be locked behind a PIN or fingerprint scan for security reasons in the phone’s storage.
The Blackberry Motion will be available in select markets, starting with the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The Motion’s sticker price in Dubai is Dh1,699, which is about RM 1957 when (and if) it comes to Malaysia.
