The upcoming Huawei Mate 10 is set to launch on 16 October, and it should be coming with Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box. EMUI 6.0 running Android 8.0 will be headlining the new smartphone from Huawei. As a pleasant surprise, it will be heading to the older Huawei Mate 9 at the same time.
Some new features for EMUI 6.0 may appeal to current Mate 9 owners. One of it is to choose the screen resolution (either 720p or 1080p) to save battery power. There are also new navigation bar button options, and new gesture controls for on-screen interactions. Android Oreo’s Picture-in-picture mode is also present in the update.
What is more interesting is that XDA, which found a working beta of the update, discovered the update is also heading to the Huawei Mate 9. Owners of 2016’s flagship will be happy to hear that they are getting the latest OS update for their phone pretty soon after the launch.
With only over a week away from the official launch of the Mate 10 series, more information on the EMUI update will be shared by then.
