Sony today has announced a new iteration of its PlayStation VR headset which fundamentally still identical to the original model albeit with subtle changes to its design. With CUH-ZVR2 as its official model name, among the changes that the company has done to the refreshed model is the new routing for the stereo headphones.
As compared to the original model (CUH-ZVR1), Sony has relocated the audio port to the left rear area of CUH-ZVR2. Furthermore, the refreshed model also features a pair of earpiece holder which should help make the headset tidier when users’ headphones are not in use.
At the same time, the CUH-ZVR2’s Processor Unit has also been updated with a new HDR pass through feature. This enables users to display HDR PS4 content on theirs TV without disconnecting the Processor Unit although understandably, users need to turn off the PS VR headset in order to activate the pass through.
Scheduled for release in Japan on 14 October, it will also be bundled together with PlayStation Camera. However, we have yet to receive further details from Sony Interactive Entertainment regarding CUH-ZVR2’s roll out in Malaysia.
