Another day, another motherboard being launched / leaked. This time round, folks at VideoCardz have obtained new information regarding an upcoming X399 motherboard from MSI. It’s called the X399 SLI Plus and according to the aforementioned source, it’s marketed towards budget conscious consumers.
Design-wise, the MSI X399 SLI Plus is endowed with an all black PCB along with several LED-lit (likely customisable) areas. Interestingly, the aesthetics of this motherboard looks pretty similar compared to the earlier released X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC mainboard. Some major differences between the two motherboards are that the X399 SLI Plus only comes with one M.2 Shield slot cover and two “shielded” PCIe slots.
In addition, the X399 SLI Plus is also not equipped with reinforced DIMM slots and shielding for the audio components. That aside, for those who are unaware: X399 motherboards are made to cater for AMD’s lineup of Ryzen Threadripper processors, which is why the X399 SLI Plus comes comes with a humongous CPU socket (TR4).
Unfortunately, aside from a single image of the MSI X399 SLI Plus motherboard, other details like key features, pricing, and release date was not stated. Despite this, we do expect MSI to reveal these details within the coming weeks.
