The new GoPro HERO6 Black is now official, along with the new GoPro Fusion camera. The former is an update to the popular HERO line – now with GoPro’s own GP1 image processor. Meanwhile the Fusion promises 5.2K/30p and 3K/60p spherical video capture in rugged conditions.
With the new custom-designed GP1 processor, the new HERO6 Black can now record in 4K60 and 1080p240 video. It also features a new video stabilisation system claimed to keep videos shake-free. The HERO6 is also waterproof to a depth of 10m/33ft without using a case.
Other features includes up to 3X better offloading transfer rate using Wi-Fi and a new Touch-to-Zoom function. For professionals, there is RAW and HDR built-in as well.
The GoPro Fusion on the other hand offers 5.2K/30p and 3K/60p spherical video recording. This is in addition to 18MP spherical images as well. A feature that is interesting is OverCapture, where a fixed perspective video can be created using spherical footage, emulating a gimbal-stabilised video.
The GoPro HERO6 Black is available now for US$ 499.99 (about RM 2115) and the GoPro Fusion is priced at US$ 699.99 (approx. RM 2690). We will update on Malaysian availability soon, when more information are available. (UPDATE – 1207pm: GoPro HERO6 Black is readily available in Malaysia right now. More details here.)
