After opening Southeast Asia’s first ever Apple Store in Singapore, Apple is apparently in the process of opening another one in this region very soon. If you are expecting the store will be located in Kuala Lumpur or other major cities within Malaysia, prepare to be disappointed.
Despite the rumor that we’ve heard last year, it turns out that the second Apple Store in Southeast Asia will be opened in Bangkok, Thailand instead. This was confirmed through a press statement from Apple to a local daily newspaper.
That being said, the store’s actual opening date and location is still a secret at the moment although it was rumored that Apple Store Bangkok might be opened at an upcoming mixed-use development area called ICONSIAM which apparently will be ready in 2018. The same report has also mentioned Apple might open other branches in other well-known shopping malls in Bangkok.
Aside from the press statement, plenty of job listings for the new Apple Store Bangkok have also appeared on Apple’s website which further confirmed the company’s intention to open a store in Thailand’s capital city. Since the job listings on the website for Malaysia is still empty at the moment, we don’t think there will be Apple Store Kuala Lumpur anytime soon.
