Released last month, the first Acer laptop with 8th Gen Intel Core processor in Malaysia comes in the form of Acer Swift 3. The company has unleashed more products with the new chip into our market – this time, under the Aspire E and Aspire 5 series.
Made for the entry-level market, the Aspire E series laptops can be obtained with either 14-inch (E14) or 15-inch (E15) display. However, E14’s native resolution is much lower at 1366 x 768 when compared to E15 that has full HD (1920 x 1080) display.
In terms of other components, they are rather identical though. All E14 and E15 laptops are equipped with Intel Core i5-8250U, 4GB RAM, 1TB hard drive, and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 dedicated graphics with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM. These laptops also come with 8x DVD Super Multi Plus drive and 41.4Whr 4-cell battery which translates to battery life of up to 9.5 hours for E14 variants and 10.5 hours for E15 models.
As for Aspire 5, its general specification is identical to Aspire E15 above although this particular model doesn’t come with optical drive and has a higher battery capacity at 48Whr even its battery life is rated much lower than Aspire E series at up to 7 hours. Additionally, the Aspire 5 can also be obtained with Intel Core i7-8550U processor.
The Aspire 5 with Core i7 processor is also equipped with an IPS panel instead of the standard TFT display. The laptop also features an additional 128GB solid state drive alongside its 1TB hard drive.
Price-wise, the Aspire E14 goes for RM 2,499 while Aspire E15 is listed at RM 2,699. For Aspire 5, it can be purchased at RM 2,699 for the Core i5 models and RM 3,699 for the Core i7 variant. All these new laptops are available immediately through Acer retailers all over Malaysia.
