UPDATE – 739PM: D-Link Malaysia seems to have shifted the roll-out date for the firmware update to a later date with each ISP to receive their own version. More details below.
ORIGINAL STORY – 106AM: Earlier this month, it was revealed that several critical security issues have been discovered within D-Link DIR-850L router which is a model that TM and Time have distributed to their customers as part of their broadband packages. D-Link Malaysia has since announced that a firmware update will be made available to users later this week.
Scheduled for release on 21 September, the update apparently can be obtained through D-Link’s official website. It is not known if the update will be customized to either ISPs but based on this listing, D-Link has previously released firmware update that were meant only for units that it supplied to TM which subsequently made their ways to UniFi customers.
Furthermore, the release date that was specified by D-Link Malaysia is two days later than the date announced by D-Link Singapore even though Singapore’s website also contains previous update for TM’s router. Hence, don’t go all guns blazing on 21 September without making sure that the update is really made for your router.
Meanwhile, we recommend users to keep a note of their important and custom settings from existing firmware before performing the update even though the company has provided a guide on how to implement UniFi or Maxis Fibre settings on the router. We couldn’t find similar guide for Time Internet though but we are sure that the ISP’s customer service is likely able to help.

UPDATE – 739PM:
We have just noticed that D-Link Malaysia has updated its statement with new release date for DIR-850L firmware update. Not only that, the company has also pointed out that there will be separate updates for TM and TIME Internet.
Specifically, the TM version will be released on 22 September while TIME Internet customers will be able to download theirs on 24 September. As it turns out, D-Link Singapore has also delayed the release of the new firmware as well which was originally scheduled for today.
Just like before, D-Link Malaysia has advised customers of both ISPs to download the update from the company’s official website when it is made available later.
