The Xiaomi Mi A1 officially went on pre-order over the weekend, and with its pure Android experience as well as its super competitive price tag, this is set to be yet another mid-range winner from Xiaomi. If you haven’t already pre-ordered the device, here are some of the best deals we’ve found online.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, the Mi A1 also has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 64GB of expandable storage, 4GB of RAM, a rear fingerprint sensor, and a 3,080mAh battery. While this isn’t the most generous battery capacity, the power efficiency of the Snapdragon 625 should give decent battery life.
But of course, the Mi A1 has also been fitted with a “flagship dual camera”. The dual 12MP + 12MP sensor setup is similar to the Mi 6 and iPhone 7 Plus, comprising of a wide angle and a telephoto lens, offering 2x optical zoom and Portrait Mode shots. We covered this and more in our first impressions from the launch in India.
Priced at RM1,099, you can actually pre-order the Mi A1 in various stores online. It is officially available via the Mi Online Store in Lazada, but since it has a number of official retail partners, the Mi A1 is also widely available from other sellers on e-commerce platforms. We’ve gone through the pages, and here’s what we found:
The official Mi Store in Lazada offers the Mi A1 for RM1,099 in Black and Gold colourways, but you can find some other sellers bundling in some freebies for better value. One seller offers a 5,000mAh Mi Powerbank 2 for free with the Black Mi A1 at RM1,099, while a third seller on Lazada is offering a free gift pack consisting of a cover, nano molecule screen protector, stereo earphones, dual-port fast car charger, and a selfie stick – also for RM1,099.
Meanwhile, a listing on 11street bundles in a free Sandisk 32GB Class 10 microSD card. On Shopee, there are two listings (here and here) offering the Mi A1 for just RM999 – one of the best we’ve found. Update: looks like both sellers have increased their prices to RM1,099. Bummer.
But, the best deal so far is from Qoo10, simply because of its Digital/Living Rewards coupons, which can slash the price by up to RM180 off, letting you purchase the Mi A1 for just RM919. These coupons are handed out on a limited basis daily at 10am, and can only be redeemed using the Qoo10 app.
With a really competitive price tag, the Mi A1 may succeed the Redmi Note 4 as Xiaomi’s most popular smartphone in Malaysia; it may even end up being the best mid-range smartphone you can buy in this country.
