Rumour has it that folks at Nvidia is planning to release a “new” graphics card this year. Several sources have mentioned that the graphics card may likely be a refresh to Nvidia’s GTX 1070 – and that it may be called the GTX 1070 Ti. Prior to this, the green company had released improved versions of its GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 graphics cards earlier this year.
An image was apparently leaked online, by a Baidu forum user, regarding the existence of the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti graphics card. The leaked picture includes a component list of an unspecified PC which is equipped with an Asus GTX 1070 Ti Strix O8G graphics card. This leak is rather interesting because it’s rare that we get to see custom graphics card being manufactured earlier than a reference Nvidia graphics card.
Then again, the GTX 1070 Ti is – allegedly – a refresh after all, so it makes sense for Nvidia to allow its AIB partners to come out with custom designs first. Speaking of which, the existence of the GTX 1070 Ti graphics card may seem like a logical step from Nvidia. This is because the GTX 1070 is currently being matched / beaten by the Radeon RX Vega 56, so it put pressure on Nvidia to come up with a product to compete with Radeon to boost its dominance at this market segment.
It has to be said, however, that rumours similar to this actually came out a few years ago too, regarding the GTX 970 Ti. That graphics card did not materialise, of course. Knowing this, we do advice our beloved readers to take this rumour with a pinch of salt – at least until Nvidia makes an official announcement.
