A photo of the upcoming GoPro Hero 6 Black was recently leaked online and hints at something for high frame-rate junkies. The alleged packaging of the action cam states that the upcoming camera will have 4K 60fps recording at last.
Photos will still be shot with the 12-megapixel camera, while the GoPro Hero 5’s 10-metre diving limit without an underwater housing has also been retained. For now, the only difference that can be seen in the leak is the bump to 4K 60fps video recording. The current Hero 5 is already capable of 4K video, but only caps at 30fps.
This will not be the first action camera to record at 4K 60fps – that is the previously launched Yi 4K+ camera. For those who are in the GoPro ecosystem however, this sounds like a good upgrade for those looking to break into the vaunted 60fps mark. Despite most people still watching movies in 24fps for the “cinematic” experience.
There’s no telling how much the GoPro Hero 6 will be priced, especially since this is a very basic leak. GoPro itself has provided no indication about its plans for the upcoming action camera.
