Earlier this week, Xiaomi introduced the Mi Mix 2 and Mi Note 3 in Beijing. Although the former is really the highlight of the launch event, the Mi Note 3 is also an interesting device in its own right. However, it appears the Mi Note 3 will not be making its way into Malaysia.
We received this information directly from a Xiaomi representative. According to our source, there is no global ROM for the Mi Note 3. More likely than not, this means the device is only meant for the Chinese market.
As for the Mi Mix 2, there is in fact a global ROM for the flagship smartphone. This, combined with the fact that the Mi Mix 2 offers global LTE support, there is a very good chance the device will be launched here in Malaysia in the near future. After all, the Mi Mix 2 has already been confirmed for the Indian market.
The Mi Mix 2 is one of Xiaomi’s most anticipated smartphones this year. It comes with a 5.99-inch 2160 x 1080 18:9 LCD display with an almost bezel-less design, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM, up to 256GB of internal storage, a 3,400mAh battery, a 12MP IMX386 rear camera (the same primary sensor used on the Xiaomi Mi 6), as well as a 5MP front-facing shooter.
Although the availability of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 in Malaysia is rather promising, there’s always a chance it won’t be launched here; even its predecessor did not make it here officially. Nonetheless, we will keep a close eye on this.
