Well, that was quick. Apple officially took the curtains off its latest iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus less than two days ago, and it looks like local telcos are already teasing the devices. Celcom, Digi and U Mobile have all listed the iPhone 8 as coming soon on their respective websites.
Sadly though, no further information has been provided by the telcos. They simply have the latest iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus picture, along with text that says “Coming Soon”.
Apple officially launched the iPhone 8 about a day ago at its Steve Job Theater located in its brand new spaceship-like campus. It is an incremental update to the previous iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, with a similar design. However, Apple has replaced the back with glass, giving it a new wireless charging capability. Apple also upgraded the 4.7” iPhone 8 and 5.5” iPhone 8 Plus with True Tone technology similar to the iPad Pro.
As for the inside, they are powered by the new A11 Bionic processor that is much more powerful than the A10 Fushion chip found on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Other specs include an upgraded 12MP camera, new portrait Lighting modes, supports ARKit, fast charging, and more. Check out our previous post to find out more about the iPhone 8.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available for preorder in selected markets on 15 September 2017, and will go on sale starting from 22 September. Unlike previous iPhones, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will come in only two storage options – 64GB and 256GB.
Strangely though, According to Apple, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will first be available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UAE, the UK, the US, and US Virgin island.
Both iPhone 8 will be available in Andorra, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, India, Isle of Man, Isreal, Jersey, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia and Slovenia beginning 29 September 2017.
In case you are lazy to go through the list, Malaysia is not listed on both launch dates. Hopefully, since our local telcos are teasing the iPhone 8, this means that the launch might be happening sooner than we thought – the third wave of the iPhone 8 launch perhaps?
