Google Malaysia has revealed the winner of its Doodle 4 Google Malaysia Day 2017 contest. The winning doodle will be uploaded to the Google Malaysia homepage on 16 September 2017, and will be available for all to see for 24 hours.
Four finalists from the four age categories were chosen by public voting from Malaysians. Although the ultimate winner was determined by the official Google Doodle team out in Mountain View, California.
The four age category winners are:
- Age 7 – 9: Wan Muhammad Fahyim Bin Wan Mohd Nazdi, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kerteh, Terengganu
- Age 10 – 12: Cheng Jun Kai, SJK (C) Kong Min, Kuantan, Pahang
- Age 13 – 15: Ch’ng Kai Wei, Nexus International School Malaysia, Putrajaya
- Age 16 – 17: Muhammad Khairul Aiman Bin Mohamad Zaidi
The grand prize winner eventually fell to Ch’ng Kai Wei, who admittedly had the cleanest design among the four finalists.
Doodle 4 Google has only been held once before in Malaysia, with the last competition taking place in 2014. The idea is to create a competition that is truly special by reducing how often it happens. It’s also apparently because getting country specific Google Doodles approved is not an easy process.
