The Nokia 8 is expected to be introduced in Malaysia tomorrow, but it appears a retailer jumped the gun: we now know how much the flagship device will retail at. If this leaked pricing is accurate, the Nokia 8 will carry a very, very competitive price tag.
We caught wind of the Nokia 8’s retail price in Malaysia from a retailer on Facebook: “Nokia Malaysia Store” wrote that Nokia’s flagship Android smartphone will retail at RM2,299 in Malaysia. The device is said to be available in either Steel or Blue colour too.
At that price point, the Nokia 8 offers plenty value for money. It comes with a 5.3-inch 1440p IPS display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of fast UFS 2.1 storage (expandable with a microSD card), a 3,090mAh battery, and of course, Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box – pure, stock Android.
In the camera department, the Nokia 8 sports a dual-camera system, which is made up of a monochrome sensor and an RGB sensor. The front-facing shooter, on the other hand, comes with phase detection autofocus; not commonly found on a selfie camera. All three cameras are 13MP shooters with Zeiss optics as well.
Whether or not the Nokia 8 will indeed retail at RM2,299 will be revealed tomorrow at the device’s launch event. If it does carry such a competitive price tag, we imagine it will give other flagship smartphones in Malaysia a good run for their money.
