Amidst all the OEM systems that were revealed at AMD Ryzen Pro media event in New York earlier this week, Lenovo has brought out something extra though. Alongside its Ryzen Pro-based ThinkCentre M715 systems, the company has also announced that its ThinkPad family will be joined by a new series that is exclusively powered by AMD processors.
Called the A Series, the first batch of devices under the new series consisted of two laptops: the A475 and A275. However, just to be clear, these new laptops are not powered by Ryzen Pro mobile processors although with the creation of this new A Series, this seems to be only a matter of time as those processors will be released in 2018.
Instead, they can be obtained with either AMD Bristol Ridge Pro or Carrizo Pro APUs. While such options already available through the company’s E-series laptops, Lenovo stated that customers are able to customize their orders for A-series which is something they not able to do with E-series.
According to Lenovo, the A475 is based on ThinkPad T series laptops and featured 14-inch display together with the ability to support up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. As for A275 which was largely conceived from the company’s ThinkPad X series laptops, it comes with 12.5-inch display and can be obtained with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM.
Enterprise customers will be able to order the new ThinkPad A475 starting from 15 September which will followed by the ThinkPad A275 one month later. Lenovo didn’t reveal the price tag of these laptop during the AMD Ryzen Pro media event but of course, it will depend on the components that customers choose to equip into these laptops in their order.
