Dell has announced that the XPS 13 will be refreshed with 8th generation Intel Core processors in September. The refreshed model is expected to look and feel exactly like the existing version, although it should be somewhat more powerful.
Intel’s Coffee Lake processors are promising 44 percent more power on the new XPS 13. There is a choice between the Core i7 and i5, both of which are now quad-core processors; which is likely where most of the improvements come from.
Aside from that, the XPS 13 will retain its QHD+ Infinity Edge display, up to 16GB RAM, up to 512GB SSD storage, and up to 1TB HDD storage. There’s still no discrete graphics card, and Dell is instead relying on the Intel HD 620 graphics. This is nothing new for the XPS 13, which has traditionally focused on productivity and weight savings.
Still, the Dell XPS 13 is one of the best lightweight notebooks on the market; and we don’t expect Dell to mess with the formula just yet.
The Dell XPS 13 with Intel 8th generation processors is expected to arrive in the US on 12 September for $1399.99. Additional configurations will apparently also appear in October, but there’s no word on what the arrangement will be. XPS 13’s with the 7th generation processors are also expected to still be on sale for now and don’t appear to have received a price drop.
