It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note8 has dethroned the Samsung Galaxy S8 as the device to feature the best smartphone display. DisplayMate’s latest report claims that the Samsung Galaxy Note8 has the best smartphone display giving it a rating of A+, the firm’s highest ever rating.
Samsung is definitely on a roll when it comes to making impressive displays on smartphones. The same title was also awarded to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 last year by DisplayMate. DisplayMate is an independent firm who is well known for its in-depth analysis of display technologies.
So, what’s new on the Galaxy Note8’s display to give it such a remarkable score? According to the report, the Note8 “has not only major improvements in the OLED display hardware, but also many new and enhanced display features and display functions”. On top of that, Samsung also manage to fit a 6.3” display, which is 20% larger than that of the Galaxy S8, without increase the size of the phone.
Another notable and “major” improvement is the brightness of the Galaxy Note8. It is 22% brighter than the Galaxy S8, and the Peak Display Brightness of over 1,200 nits is a new record for smartphones. This significantly improves the display performance and screen readability in challenging indoor and outdoor conditions.
