Vainglory developer Super Evil Megacorp has announced that its game now supports keyboard and mouse input. This is thanks to a partnership with Samsung, and the Samsung DeX dock in particular.
The announcement from Samsung came as a bit of a surprise; although the collaboration makes sense. Vainglory is one of the more popular MOBA titles on mobile. Super Evil Megacorp has also been pushing it as a legitimate esport, although it garners less attention than PC based games.
Samsung DeX, which turns a number of Samsung smartphones into desktop computers, is a perfect fit for Vainglory’s aspirations. The addition of keyboard and mouse support is precisely what a MOBA needs. Of course, this only applies to the game running on Samsung devices; and players will need to use the Samsung Game Launcher to benefit from the support.
Vainglory with keyboard and mouse is set to be available for the public to try at Gamescom in Cologne this week; and will be on display at selected Samsung stores in Europe. It’s unknown when the public will receive the update, but we expect it to be soon enough.
Curiously, this really had nothing to do with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 announcement. Since the keyboard and mouse support extends to any smartphone that works with DeX.
