At Gamescom 2017, HP announced its first-ever Omen X gaming laptop. Packed with some very impressive hardware, the Omen X really is HP’s most powerful gaming laptop yet; its steep asking price certainly shows it too.
Like any gaming laptop worth its salt, the Omen X can be configured with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU, though the more reasonable – or budget-conscious – gamer can opt for a GTX 1070 GPU instead. Aside from that, the Omen X also comes with a 17-inch 4K or 120Hz 1080p display; both display options offer Nvidia’s G-Sync technology.
Not surprisingly, the Omen X is equipped with a mechanical keyboard too. It offers individually customisable RGB keys, 2.5mm of key travel, and even a row of programmable macro keys on the left side of the keyboard.
Rounding out the specifications of the Omen X gaming laptop are up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of fast SSD storage – that’s a lot of SSD storage – an overclockable Intel Core i7-7820HK processor (more affordable models of the laptop come with Core i7-7700HQ processors instead), and a single panel access to the innards of the laptop, which should make it pretty painless to upgrade the RAM and storage of the Omen X.
The HP Omen X gaming laptop is expected to be available sometime in November 2017. Retailing from $1,999 (around RM8,560), the Omen X is definitely not an affordable gaming machine, but it does come with a pretty compelling feature set.
