Move aside Tesla, another player is in the electric vehicle market and no, it isn’t Faraday Future. Meet Fisker, and they want to launch their electric car, EMotion, at next year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2018. More and more car makers are launching their new automotive tech like how Jaguar revealed the iPace SUV this year.
One of the key technologies they want to highlight is their next generation battery pack together with an “ultra charger” station which aims to charge the Fisker EMotion in just 9 minutes. That is almost 3 times faster than Tesla’s supercharger station which can charge a Tesla vehicle in 30 minutes. The 9 minutes charge will give the Fisker EMotion a 200km range. At full charge, the EMotion would have 640km of range.
Other technologies include an all-wheel-drive system, fully connected, LiDAR technology which Fisker says that they are going to aim for fully autonomous driving for the EMotion (Level 4).
The Fisker EMotion will start at $129,000, so that is more of a Tesla Model S range and definitely not something to compete with the Model 3. Fisker did say that they are working on a cheaper version as well. The first deliveries of the EMotion should be ready by 2019.
Customers can start to reserve a Fisker EMotion here for just a deposit of $2,000.
