Leaks can be a double-edge sword; what is reported can be true, or it can be a bust. So, the news about the Apple iPhone 8 upcoming display should be taken with a grain of salt, but if it is real, the company may be on the road towards impressive innovations in the pipeline.
The upcoming iPhone 8 is said to have a bezel-less design, much like the Xiaomi Mi Mix, with a simple cut-out at the top of the phone for the required sensors and front-facing camera. A leaked photo of the display screen popped up online recently, and it bears striking similarities to the rumours flying around the net.
Notable features from the displays include extra sensor cut-outs at the top, which is speculated to house not only the front camera but an iris scanner as well. What is also missing is the bottom ‘chin’, where the Touch ID and home button usually sits. The lack of this area suggests that the phone will ditch the traditional home button completely in the next iPhone iteration.
Another photo shows that the physical size of the phone may just be similar to the iPhone 7, but with the disappearance of the Touch ID/home button, you will get better screen-to-body ratio with the upcoming phone. The display is also said to be OLED-based for better colour reproduction.
Take everything here with a grain of salt, but if this is truly how the next Apple iPhone will look like, we will see the Cupertino company finally pushing innovation boundaries once again with their smartphones.
