A new report has appeared online stating that a variant of the Xiaomi Mi 5X will be launched without MIUI OS. Xiaomi is expected to launch the Android One smartphone soon, with a posting on Indonesia’s POSTEL giving some insights on the upcoming launch.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X, which was recently launched last month. Which is what makes this report particularly intriguing. This dual-camera phone features a 5.5-inch IPS display, full metal unibody, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 3080mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor. The dual camera features two 12MP sensors, with one wide angle lens and a telephoto lens for optical zoom functionalities.
Google’s Android One program is not just about the software, but makes demands as to the hardware as well. If anything, the smartphone must run the vanilla version of Android OS. Which why the Mi 5X branding is so unusual.
As of press time, there are no official announcement as of yet. Thus, we do not know where the model will be sold, outside of Indonesia; we expect the country to launch the Android One model of the Mi 5X. No word from Xiaomi if they will be bringing in the model however – but we hope they will see the light here.
