It looks like Facebook has just brought Spotify to its Messenger AI assistant, M. The social network can now suggest music to listen to on Spotify based on a person’s conversation. According to VentureBeat, M will monitor conversations, and suggest users to open Spotify when they mention things related to music.
This is not the first time Facebook M is going through your conversations. Earlier this year, M, started to monitor conversations to suggest things like Uber rides, stickers, create events in calendars, and such. Now, Facebook is bringing integration with Spotify as well. When you use phrases that contain words like listening to music, Messenger will show a little popup that says “Find Music” along with a Spotify logo.
You can also create group playlist on Facebook Messenger
Tapping on the Find Music popup will bring up Spotify within the app, allowing you to search for music to listen to. Just like the ability to create playlists with your friends that was launched about two months ago, you do not need to have a Spotify account to enjoy this new feature. For those who are not comfortable with this new feature, you may turn off M Suggestions entirely under your profile settings on Facebook Messenger.
Sadly, Facebook M isn’t available in Malaysia yet, so I guess we’ll just have to manually share songs on Spotify with our friends until the social network is ready to bring its AI assistant here.
