Asus has unveiled its newest motherboard called the ROG Strix X399-E Gaming. This motherboard is made to be paired with AMD’s newly launched Ryzen Threadripper lineup of processors. According to the Taiwanese manufacturer, its newest X399 motherboard is aimed towards PC enthusiasts who want a powerful mainboard, but at an affordable price.
Asus’ first Threadripper-compatible motherboard is the X399 Zenith Extreme, which was first debuted at Computex 2017. That motherboard, however, comes at a price tag that may not be reachable by many. Hence, the need for a more affordable motherboard like the ROG Strix X399-E Gaming.
Asus mentioned that its ROG Strix X399-E Gaming motherboard comes with the same VRM heatsink design as the X399 Zenith Extreme. This, of course, will allow for better overclocking headroom. In addition, some features from the more powerful X399 Zenith Extreme mainboard is also present on the ROG Strix X399-E Gaming.
Specifications-wise, the Asus ROG Strix X399-E Gaming motherboard features eight DIMM DDR4 RAM slots; four PCIe x16 slots; one each of PCIe x4 and X1 slots; two M.2 slots; one U.2 slot; as well as six SATA 6Gbps ports. When it comes to design, this motherboard is endowed in the all black colour scheme with a few LED-lit areas here and there.
Unfortunately, Asus has not mentioned the date of release and pricing for the ROG Strix X399-E Gaming motherboard. That said, the company does expect the mainboard to be made available by September 2017.
