Samsung has just launched yet another flip phone, and no, it’s not coming to Malaysia. Launched in China, the Leader 8 is a high-end clamshell smartphone featuring two displays, a Snapdragon 821 processor, and more.
First up the Leader 8 looks pretty similar to its older high-end flip phone, the W2016. It has a premium metal build surrounding two 4.2” full HD Super AMOLED displays, one located on the outside, and another on the inside of the phone.
Specifications wise, the Leader 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage; there is also a microSD card slot that supports memory cards of up to 256GB. Other specs include a 12MP f/1.7 rear camera, 5MP f/1.9 front camera, 4G LTE connectivity, fingerprint sensor, and has a 2,300mAh battery on board with support for wireless charging.
Sadly, Samsung did not provide any further details about the price, or even the operating system it runs on. It’s good to know that Samsung is still keeping flip phones alive. Last year, they introduced an entry-level flip phone called the Galaxy Folder 2 in China, and then brought it to Korea in June 2017.
Unfortunately, just like all the clamshell phones they launched in the past, it is highly unlikely they would bring it to Malaysia.
