Alongside the unveiling of Radeon RX Vega graphics cards few days ago, AMD has also revealed additional information regarding its upcoming Ryzen Threadripper CPUs. This include a general look into their performances as well as comparisons against a number of Intel Core X-Series CPUs.
In general, the Ryzen Threadripper series comes in three different CPU: the 16-core/32-threads 1950X, 12C/24T 1920X, and 8C/16T 1900X. As mentioned before though, AMD somehow has yet to reveal the performance figures for Threadripper 1900X for the time being.
Depending on respective apps, AMD claimed that the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has up to 55% more performance than Intel Core i9-7900X despite carrying the same USD 999 (about RM 4,277) price tag. Of course, the company didn’t forget to point out that its Threadripper 1950X has more cores than Core i9-7900X.
AMD has also compared Core i9-7900X against its 12C/24T Threadripper 1920X and while the gap between their performances was not that big but the company still has the upper hand since the Threadripper 1920X has lower price tag. Check out the slides below for full comparisons:
Through these comparisons, it is quite clear that AMD is really confident with the capabilities of its Ryzen Threadripper chips. Let’s see whether this will further stir the competition between AMD and Intel which we hope will benefit consumers regardless through cost-saving or innovations.
