MSI Launches The X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Motherboard

Now that AMD has finally announced its full lineup of Ryzen Threadripper processors, motherboard manufacturers are beginning to unveil their range of X399 mainboards. MSI is the latest company to do this, with its X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard. It should be noted that this motherboard is not compatible with AMD’s Ryzen CPUs – the socket size is already a good enough indication.

Speaking of which, the MSI X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard features AMD’s TR4 socket, which, again, is significantly larger than AM4 sockets found on previously released X370 and B350 motherboards. When it comes to design, this motherboard features the “usual” all black colour scheme along with a few LED-lit areas. Do keep in mind that the X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC is an ATX motherboard.

Specification-wise, the MSI X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC is fitted with eight DIMM RAM slots (quad channel); four PCIe x16 slots; one PCIe x1 slot; eight SATA III ports; and three M.2 slots. This motherboard supports Nvidia’s SLI and AMD’s CrossFire technology, of course. Other features of the MSI X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC are “reinforced” DIMM and PCIe slots, along with MSI Mystic Light compatibility.

Also announced alongside the aforementioned motherboard are MSI’s new X370 Gaming M7 ACK and B350 Tomahawk Plus motherboards. The latter mainboard now comes with MSI’s OC Engine 2, which, according to the company, allows for increased overclocking performance.

Regardless, pricing and date of availability for the X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, X370 Gaming M7 ACK and B350 Tomahawk Plus motherboards were not mentioned by MSI. That said, we do expect the company to be revealing these details soon. More information regarding the X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC can be found here.
