If you followed some of our previous reports on AMD Threadripper, then you might already noticed that the upcoming processor is generally larger than other consumer CPU in the market. Not surprisingly, the chip will be housed in seemingly massive box for its retail release as well.
In case you are not convinced of its massive size, here is what the box looked like what it is being held by AMD’s CEO, Dr Lisa Su:
While we not surprised that AMD has decided to use a bigger box for Ryzen Threadripper, we don’t think there is a real reason to have such a big box though unless AMD has included a cooler with the chip. However, the latest rumor has suggested that might not be the case which means that consumers need to obtain a CPU cooler for Threadripper separately.
As tweeted by Dr Lisa Su, AMD will continue to reveal more details about Ryzen Threadripper at the upcoming SIGGRAPH 2017. Hence, the answer might be revealed at that event as well. So, stay tuned.
