Alongside the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ launch in Malaysia, Samsung also introduced the DeX Station to complement the flagship smartphones. The relatively small sized dock has a pretty big feature: to transform the S8 into the heart of a desktop environment.
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ is packed with the company’s new Exynos 8895 processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It has 64GB of fast UFS 2.1 storage, microSD card slots, as well as the same 12MP dual-pixel f/1.7 rear cameras and 8MP front selfie camera.
The DeX station features an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, and an ethernet port. Power is provided over a USB Type-C port. Samsung included its Adaptive Fast Charging technology to keep the Galaxy S8 or S8+ topped up with power for long working sessions; and a cooling fan to manage heat concerns.
Interestingly, the Samsung DeX Station will only run on the provided charger and USB cable provided with the Samsung Galaxy S8.
While we work on the review of the Samsung DeX Station, check it out in action.
