Xiaomi has teased its next product that’s coming to Malaysia, and chances are, it’ll be the company’s current flagship smartphone, the Mi 6.
Launched in April this year, the Xiaomi Mi 6 features flagship level hardware – even if it’s not as breathtaking as the company’s previous Mi Mix smartphone. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with a generous 6GB of RAM. There’s either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, 3,350mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, and a USB Type C port…though there isn’t any 3.5mm headphone jack here.
The object of Xiaomi Malaysia’s teaser is the new dual-camera setup. It’s identical to the iPhone 7 Plus’ camera configuration, consisting of two 12MP sensors with different focal lengths, offering true 2x zoom.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is not the only dual-camera smartphone in Xiaomi’s stable, but the fact that the device was recently registered in SIRIM’s database makes it quite plausible. It is also reflective of Xiaomi’s recent run of releasing its latest smartphones fairly quickly to the Malaysian market.
No release date has been set just yet, but as a comparison, Xiaomi released the Mi 5 in Malaysia back in June 2016 for RM1,549. For more on the Mi 6, check out our review.
