According to Microsoft through the demo video below, it apparently able to detect user’s presence and is designed to monitor indoor as well as outdoor air quality.
The video also shows that users are able to check their calendar on the semi-transparent thermostat and can dynamically tweak temperature settings based on the data provided by its sensors. Being a Windows 10 device, it is not surprising that GLAS actually comes with Cortana voice controls alongside the support for Azure cloud services.
As interesting as it might look, Microsoft and Johnson Controls didn’t provide any further details regarding the availability of GLAS and its pricing. It is likely that the smart thermostat is meant for enterprise market but it still looks enticing enough to be used as part of smart home setup.
