It has been two months since AMD Ryzen Threadripper chips was officially revealed to the world, yet its pricing and availability have not been disclosed until today. Just moments ago, the company have finally unveiled the price tag for its new enthusiast-level processors.
Featuring 16 cores and 32 threads setup, the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X which runs at 3.4GHz base clock speed and 4.0GHz boost speed is priced at USD 999 (about RM 4,289). At the same time, AMD will also be offering its 12C/24T Ryzen Threadripper 1920X with 3.5GHz base clock and 4.0GHz boost speed at USD 799 (about RM 3,430).
In terms of release date, AMD has scheduled them to be out in the market in early August. Of course, users should be to expect a variety of X399-based motherboards to be available at around the same time as well.
As a comparison, the equivalent 16C/32T Intel Core i9-7960X is priced at USD 1,699 (about RM 7,293) while the 12C/24T Intel Core i9-7920X goes for USD 1,199 (about RM 5,147). Clearly, the difference in pricing between AMD Ryzen Threadripper and comparable Intel Core X-Series processors are quite staggering.
At this moment, we have yet to receive the release and pricing information for Threadripper CPUs in Malaysia. We’ll keep you updated once we heard more from AMD.
